Overview

Vaco by Highspring is seeking an Interim Controller for a 6-month contract to build and stabilize the accounting function following a recent acquisition. The role involves designing core finance processes, managing high-volume e-commerce accounting activities, and collaborating on tech stack integration.

Key responsibilities

  • Design the chart of accounts and core finance processes from scratch
  • Manage monthly accounting activities in a high-volume e-commerce environment
  • Own monthly close and quarterly SEC financial reporting
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable in a Shopify-based e-commerce model
  • Partner on integrating additional acquisitions into the financial infrastructure
  • Collaborate on broader tech stack design including CRM and sales/marketing

Required skills

  • 7-10+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience
  • Prior startup or ground-up build experience
  • Hands-on operator with a willingness to roll up sleeves
  • Strong systems implementation experience
  • US GAAP familiarity
  • Publicly traded/SEC reporting experience
  • E-commerce or Shopify exposure
  • Experience deploying AI-enabled finance tools
