Overview

CSS is seeking experienced Insurance Defense Litigation Attorneys for a fully remote long-term contract opportunity focusing on various insurance defense matters. This role involves collaboration with an in-house legal team to handle cases such as property damage, insurance coverage disputes, and bad faith litigation, primarily within Texas jurisdiction.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of insurance defense litigation matters
  • Provide strategic direction to outside counsel throughout litigation phases
  • Review pleadings, motions, discoveries, and case evaluations
  • Support preparation of corporate representatives for depositions and mediations
  • Collaborate with claims professionals on litigation strategy and resolution planning
  • Assess legal and financial risk exposure and guide settlement strategies
  • Monitor case progress, legal spend, and budgets
  • Maintain accurate documentation and litigation status reporting

Required skills

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active attorney license in good standing
  • Minimum of 4+ years of litigation experience
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management systems
  • Experience in Insurance Defense Litigation and bad faith litigation
  • Knowledge of first-party property claims and coverage analysis
  • Experience with deposition preparation and witness coordination
  • Mediation and settlement negotiation skills
