Overview

The Insurance Billing Specialist at Hopedale Medical Complex plays a crucial role in obtaining accurate reimbursement for hospital services. This position involves managing claims processing, following up on unpaid claims, and ensuring that billing information is correctly documented and submitted. The specialist will work onsite, resolving discrepancies and assisting both patients and insurance companies with billing inquiries.

Key responsibilities

  • Review patient accounts and verify data for correct billable services and fees.
  • Run daily insurance billing reports and review discrepancies.
  • Generate and transmit Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial Insurance claims.
  • Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve insurance denials.
  • Receive and prepare daily incoming payments for posting.
  • Monitor and maintain assigned accounts receivable levels.
  • Assist patients and insurance companies with billing-related inquiries.
  • Keep updated on all third-party billing requirements.

Required skills

  • Knowledge of Medicare Part A, Medicaid, and insurance procedures.
  • Experience in medical billing and claim follow-up (1-2 years preferred).
  • Familiarity with computerized medical information management systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
