Overview

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking a management-level Insurance Attorney to lead a dynamic team within their US Retail Markets business unit. This role focuses on providing legal support for personal auto insurance products, overseeing legal strategy, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead a team of lawyers and legal professionals in supporting personal auto operations.
  • Provide legal guidance on product design, pricing, underwriting, and state management operations.
  • Represent and advise the company on substantial legal and business matters requiring insurance regulatory expertise.
  • Perform comprehensive legal research and direct research by others.
  • Drive operational excellence within the Legal team through improved processes and technology use.

Required skills

  • J.D. or L.L.B. degree and admission to the bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • 15 to 20 years of experience as a practicing attorney
  • Expert knowledge of insurance regulatory law
  • Excellent analytical, legal writing, and communication skills
  • Management experience and/or CPCU preferred
  • Familiarity with corporate operations and a proactive work approach
