Overview

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs is seeking an Instructional Aide to join their award-winning Special Education team in Orange, California. This role is vital in providing personalized support and guidance to Elementary School students within a supportive, student-centered environment, helping them achieve their unique educational goals.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to create a welcoming and high-achieving learning environment.
  • Implement individualized instruction and behavioral interventions in classrooms and community settings.
  • Monitor students during lessons and apply strategies to enhance comprehension.
  • Track student progress and communicate with teachers about successes and areas needing intervention.
  • Manage student behavior and apply consistent disciplinary measures.
  • Support students facing academic challenges and assist in developing essential skills.
  • Document student behaviors and performance accurately and timely.
  • Participate in school-wide meetings to foster collaborative support.
  • Respond constructively to feedback and engage in continuous professional growth.

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate degree in education or related field preferred
  • Ability to obtain CA driver's license and crisis management training certification
  • Experience supporting children in special education or behavioral health settings
  • Skills in managing learning disabilities and emotional behavioral disorders
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in instructional technology and Microsoft Office Suite
