Overview

Ombudsman Educational Services is seeking an Instructional Aide for their Alternative Education Program in Waterman, Illinois. This role involves providing personalized support to K-12 students, assisting with the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEP), and collaborating with educators to foster a positive learning environment for at-risk students.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Implement individualized instruction and behavioral interventions.
  • Monitor students during lessons and apply strategies to enhance comprehension.
  • Track student progress and communicate with teachers about needs.
  • Manage student behavior in alignment with school policies.
  • Support students facing academic challenges and help them develop essential skills.
  • Document student behaviors and performance with clear reports.
  • Participate in assurance and accreditation activities.
  • Engage with students, families, and staff to foster a supportive educational community.

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
  • Licensed or in process of obtaining paraprofessional or similar credential.
  • Experience in instructional support, preferably in alternative education settings.
  • Ability to work with students with learning disabilities and behavioral disorders.
  • Crisis management training certification.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in instructional technology and Microsoft Office Suite.
