Overview

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs is looking for an Instructional Aide to join their Special Education team in Cambria, California. This role involves providing personalized support and supervision to students in Grades K-12, helping them achieve their educational goals through individualized instruction and behavioral interventions.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Implement individualized instruction and behavioral interventions aligned with students' goals.
  • Instruct and monitor students during classroom lessons.
  • Track student progress and communicate with teachers about successes and challenges.
  • Manage student behavior and apply disciplinary measures in collaboration with teachers.
  • Support students facing academic challenges and help them develop essential skills.
  • Complete accurate documentation of student behaviors and performance.
  • Assist in preparing behavioral reports and daily activity logs.
  • Communicate with students, colleagues, and families about student needs and achievements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records.
  • Participate in assurance and accreditation activities.
  • Engage in school-wide meetings to foster collaborative support networks.

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
  • Ability to obtain CA driver’s license and certification in crisis management.
  • Experience supporting children in educational settings, preferably special education.
  • Skills in working with children with learning disabilities and emotional behavioral disorders.
  • Proficiency in communication, organization, conflict resolution, and decision-making.
  • Familiarity with instructional technology and Microsoft Office Suite.
