Overview

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs is seeking an Instructional Aide for their Special Education Program in Antioch, California. The role involves providing personalized support and guidance to high school students with special needs, collaborating with educators to implement individualized education plans, and fostering a supportive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to create a safe and welcoming learning environment.
  • Implement individualized instruction and behavioral interventions for students.
  • Monitor and instruct students during classroom lessons to ensure comprehension.
  • Track student progress and communicate with teachers regarding interventions needed.
  • Manage student behavior and apply consistent disciplinary measures.
  • Support and mentor students with academic challenges to develop essential skills.
  • Complete timely documentation of student behaviors and performance.
  • Communicate with students, families, and staff about student needs and progress.
  • Participate in performance assurance and accreditation activities.
  • Respond to feedback and demonstrate continuous professional growth.

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred
  • Ability to obtain state driver's license and crisis management certification
  • Experience working with children, particularly in special education
  • Skills in behavior management and working with students with autism or disabilities
  • Proficiency in communication, organization, and problem-solving
  • Knowledge of instructional technology and Microsoft Office Suite
