Overview

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs is seeking an Instructional Aide for their Special Education Program in Fairfield, California. The role involves providing personalized support and guidance to students in Grades K-12. The Instructional Aide will collaborate with educators to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and assist students in both classroom and community settings, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to create a safe and welcoming learning environment.
  • Implement individualized instruction and behavioral interventions aligned with student goals.
  • Monitor student progress and communicate with teachers about successes and areas needing intervention.
  • Manage student behavior and apply consistent disciplinary measures.
  • Support students facing academic challenges and help develop essential life skills.
  • Document student behaviors and performance accurately and timely.
  • Participate actively in school-wide meetings to foster collaborative support.
  • Respond constructively to feedback and engage in professional growth.

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree preferred
  • Experience working with children with learning disabilities or emotional behavioral disorders
  • Ability to obtain state driver's license and crisis management certification
  • Advanced communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of individualized education programs (IEPs) and behavioral support strategies
  • Proficient in relevant technology, including Microsoft Office Suite
