Job Description

Overview

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs is seeking an Instructional Aide 1:1 to support students in a special education environment for Grades K-12. The role involves providing individualized assistance to students, helping them implement their personalized education plans, and fostering a supportive learning environment in collaboration with educators.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide direct, individualized support to assigned students in classroom and community settings
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to create a welcoming and high-achieving learning environment
  • Implement engaging, individualized instruction and behavioral interventions
  • Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with educators about student needs
  • Manage student behavior and reinforce school policies
  • Support students facing academic challenges and assist in developing essential skills
  • Complete documentation of student behaviors and performance
  • Participate in meetings and contribute to school-wide support networks
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred
  • Ability to obtain an IL state paraprofessional license
  • Experience in special education or behavioral health settings
  • Skills in working with students with learning and emotional behavioral disorders
  • Strong communication, organization, conflict resolution, and multitasking skills
  • Knowledge of instructional technology and Microsoft Office Suite
