Job Description

Overview

USAA is seeking a Senior Property Adjuster to handle and resolve complex property insurance claims primarily through telephone communication. This role will involve investigating, evaluating, and negotiating claims while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The position is hybrid, requiring in-office attendance three days a week, and is open to qualified candidates in specific locations.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage claims caseload of moderate complexity
  • Investigate and evaluate claim damages from various sources
  • Negotiate equitable settlements in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Maintain accurate documentation throughout the claims process
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal partners for claims resolution
  • Identify coverage concerns and develop Special Investigation Unit referrals
  • Support workload surges and catastrophe response operations as needed

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
  • 2 years relevant property or claims adjusting experience
  • Developing knowledge of residential construction
  • Working knowledge of estimating losses using Xactimate or similar tools
  • Negotiation, investigation, communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Knowledge of property claims contracts and state laws
  • Proficiency in prioritizing and multi-tasking with business applications
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the year and work catastrophe duty if needed
  • Active Adjuster License acquisition within 90 days
