Job Description

Overview

As an Injury Examiner at USAA, you will be responsible for adjusting complex auto and homeowner bodily injury claims, ensuring compliance with state laws and delivering exceptional member service. This role includes investigating claims, determining liability, and providing proactive communication to members, all while working in a professional and supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Adjust complex auto bodily injury claims, including UM/UIM and small business claims.
  • Identify and confirm coverage on complex claims.
  • Investigate loss details, determine legal liability, and adjudicate claims in a timely manner.
  • Manage assigned claims workload and keep members informed with timely updates.
  • Collaborate with team members to resolve issues and support escalated matters.
  • Direct vendors and internal partners for timely claims resolution.
  • Deliver high-quality member service through effective communication.

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 4 years of auto claims and injury adjusting experience
  • Advanced knowledge in auto claims contracts and investigation techniques
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Effective time-management and decision-making abilities
  • Proficient in prioritizing, multi-tasking, and problem-solving
  • Advanced knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology related to injury claims
  • Ability to exercise sound financial judgment
  • Knowledge of coverage evaluation, loss assessment, and loss reserving
  • Insurance adjuster license acquisition within 90 days and 3 attempts
