Job Description

Overview

As an Injury Examiner at USAA, you will adjust complex auto and homeowner bodily injury claims, including underinsured and uninsured motorist claims, as well as small business claims. This role emphasizes delivering exceptional member service while ensuring compliance with state laws and regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Adjust complex auto bodily injury claims with significant injuries and small business claims.
  • Investigate loss details and determine legal liability for claims.
  • Evaluate, negotiate, and adjudicate claims appropriately and timely.
  • Manage assigned claims workload and provide timely status updates to members.
  • Collaborate with team members and vendors for efficient claims resolution.
  • Deliver best-in-class member service through proactive communication.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are managed per compliance policies.

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
  • 4 years of auto claims and injury adjusting experience
  • Advanced knowledge of auto claims contracts and applicable state laws
  • Advanced negotiation, investigation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong time-management and decision-making abilities
  • Knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology for bodily injury claims
  • Ability to exercise financial judgment in handling claims
  • Acquisition and maintenance of insurance adjuster license within 90 days
