Job Description

Overview

Trane Technologies is seeking an AI Controls Engineer to join their digital solutions team focused on creating sustainable climate technologies. The role involves deploying and enhancing AI control algorithms for building systems, optimizing energy consumption, and collaborating with various teams and clients to improve HVAC automation systems.

Key responsibilities

  • Deploy, test, measure, and verify AI control algorithms for existing building control systems
  • Analyze and enhance the building control system to optimize energy consumption and comfort
  • Contribute to the development of HVAC algorithms
  • Install and commission onsite edge devices
  • Collaborate across teams for building deployments and performance analysis
  • Work closely with clients to develop new HVAC control sequences and advise on system repairs
  • Troubleshoot, test, and commission BMS and HVAC control systems
  • Improve tools and processes related to energy consumption analysis and building performance
  • Understand HVAC mechanical plans and wiring diagrams
  • Provide training on HVAC system controls to clients
  • Document work processes and procedures
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Provide and analyze performance reports and advise on corrective actions

Required skills

  • DEC or bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or related field
  • Over 5 years of experience with building automation and HVAC control systems
  • Experience with DDC, PLC, or similar programming in BAS and HVAC control
  • In-depth knowledge of building automation systems and HVAC
  • Experience with commissioning automation controls and systems
  • Thorough understanding of building control theory and concepts
  • Experience with proprietary controls (JCI, Siemens, Honeywell, etc.)
  • Knowledge of building management system protocols like BACnet, Modbus, Lonworks
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Strong reporting and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read trend logs and analyze data for insights
  • Familiarity with Python programming language
  • Bilingualism in French and English required
