Job Description

Overview

Béton Provincial is seeking a Process Engineer for their Joliette cement plant. The role involves optimizing the cement manufacturing process, supporting production teams, and ensuring safety and quality compliance while working in a collaborative and dynamic environment that values employee development.

Key responsibilities

  • Improve and optimize the cement manufacturing process
  • Conduct inspections and measurements on-site
  • Support and guide production teams, including developing operational guidelines and troubleshooting
  • Monitor daily process performance and make necessary corrections
  • Conduct various tests, audits, and measurements in the plant
  • Write technical reports and maintain R&D documentation
  • Perform performance calculations (thermal balances, efficiencies, statistics, combustion)
  • Optimize control systems
  • Participate in root cause analyses of repetitive failures with other departments
  • Ensure compliance with environmental (ISO 14001) and quality (ISO 9001) management system procedures
  • Promote and lead workplace health and safety initiatives
  • Train personnel on safe work practices
  • Analyze and promote safe work methods
  • Ensure application of established safety programs

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, industrial, or mechanical engineering
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec
  • 5 years of experience in a heavy industrial environment or 3 years in the cement industry
  • Experience in a unionized environment (an asset)
  • Fluency in French and intermediate English (spoken and written)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of ABB-TIS system (an asset)
  • Leadership and teamwork skills
  • Problem-solving abilities
  • Autonomy and resourcefulness
  • Ability to work in an industrial environment
