Job Description

Overview

Pierce Transit is seeking an Information Technology Manager to lead the IT department and ensure the secure and efficient operation of the agency's technology systems. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role involves overseeing technology strategy, budgeting, and resource allocation, while providing technical expertise and fostering innovation within the agency.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide strategic advice to the Executive team regarding information technology.
  • Plan, develop, coordinate, and implement information systems to meet agency technology needs.
  • Lead the Information Technology Department to support business goals and Strategic Plan.
  • Develop and monitor department goals, objectives, and effectiveness of service delivery.
  • Lead incident response, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
  • Ensure compliance with accessibility, records retention, and data privacy requirements.
  • Supervise personnel, assign work, and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Manage multiple large IT projects, including planning and oversight.
  • Prepare complex reports, proposals, and recommendations.
  • Develop and enforce policies for securing agency technology.
  • Research, recommend, and deploy new technologies.
  • Administer departmental operating and capital budgets.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field
  • Seven years of directly related experience
  • Five years of supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of current technology trends and systems
  • Experience in program development, management, and administration
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity planning
  • Familiarity with network infrastructure and cybersecurity measures
  • Skills in project management and vendor management
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to analyze complex data and prepare comprehensive reports
