Overview

The Information Technology Consultant 2 position at the University of Oregon is part of the Finance and Administrative Shared Services IT team. This role involves managing software and hardware needs, supporting various campus departments, and ensuring compliance with technical standards while providing excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage and recommend software and hardware solutions for campus departments
  • Lead technical evaluations and recommendations for cross-device platforms
  • Audit and maintain physical device inventory
  • Oversee imaging and deployment of user device hardware
  • Manage software installation, configuration, and license renewals
  • Provide user training and documentation
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
  • Supervise student workers and coordinate with internal and 3rd-party resources

Required skills

  • Knowledge of information technology and information systems
  • Fundamentals obtained through an AA degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience with imaging and deployment in an enterprise environment
  • Knowledge of Windows systems administration and virtualization
  • Proficiency in Windows scripting languages
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, LDAP, and Group Policy Management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent customer service abilities
