Job Description

Overview

The Infant / Toddler CDA Specialist works under the direction of a Lead Teacher to assist in planning and implementing routines, curriculum, meals, and activities for preschool and infant/toddler children aged 6 months to 5 years. This role involves supporting the Head Start program and assisting teachers in various educational and non-instructional duties.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and implementing classroom routines and curriculum.
  • Support teachers in managing classroom activities for preschool and infant/toddler children.
  • Administer and record achievement and diagnostic tests.
  • Help devise special strategies for reinforcing skills based on individual student needs.
  • Assist in non-instructional duties including snacks, meals, and toilet routines.
  • Supervise students during emergency drills and other activities outside the classroom.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Participate in professional development training programs.

Required skills

  • Knowledge of early childhood principles and practices.
  • Understanding of child development and learning styles.
  • Basic computer skills, including data entry.
  • Ability to implement Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Capacity to maintain effective relationships with staff, parents, and public.
  • Communication skills in English; bilingual skills in Spanish or Portuguese preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
