Job Description

Overview

The Infant/Toddler CDA Specialist at the Connecticut Institute for Communities, Inc. assists 1-2 classrooms in planning and implementing activities for preschool and infant/toddler children aged 6 months to 5 years. This role involves working under the guidance of a licensed teacher to facilitate learning, administer tests, and support daily routines of the classroom environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist classrooms in planning and implementing curriculum and routines
  • Support the teacher in assessing student achievement and needs
  • Supervise students during various activities and emergencies
  • Help with non-instructional duties like meals and hygiene
  • Maintain confidentiality and ethical behavior regarding student information
  • Participate in professional development training

Required skills

  • Knowledge of early childhood education principles
  • Understanding of child development and learning styles
  • Basic computer skills for data entry
  • Ability to implement Head Start Performance Standards
  • Effective communication skills in English
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish or English/Portuguese) preferred
