Job Description

Overview

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a skilled Industrial Electrician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical industrial equipment in their corrugated packaging plant in Camillus, NY. The role focuses on ensuring machinery operates at peak performance while adhering to safety regulations and participating in preventative maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair industrial electrical equipment and machinery
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on electrical equipment
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults in complex machinery
  • Troubleshoot and maintain Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs)
  • Ensure compliance with National Electrical Code (NEC) and safety regulations
  • Maintain and repair high-voltage equipment and control systems
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance work
  • Collaborate with other technicians to resolve operational issues
  • Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions

Required skills

  • 3-5 years of experience as an Industrial Electrician
  • Experience with 480V three-phase systems
  • Proficiency with electrical test equipment
  • Expert knowledge of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Aptitude for troubleshooting and programming PLCs and VFDs
  • Valid Electrical license or equivalent certification
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and safety awareness skills
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; college degree or technical certification is a plus
