Job Description

Overview

WestRock is seeking a skilled Industrial Electrician for their corrugated packaging plant in Camillus, NY. The role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and mechanical industrial equipment to ensure the plant operates at peak performance while adhering to safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain equipment through preventive maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical failures
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on electrical equipment
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical faults in complex machinery
  • Troubleshoot and maintain Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs)
  • Install, maintain, and calibrate sensors and measuring instruments
  • Ensure compliance with electrical installations and repairs per National Electrical Code and local codes
  • Strictly adhere to Lockout/Tagout procedures and other safety policies
  • Collaborate with other technicians to resolve complex operational issues
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance work and parts used
  • Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Assist with mechanical maintenance tasks as needed

Required skills

  • 3-5 years of experience as an Industrial Electrician, preferably in manufacturing
  • Experience with 480V three-phase systems and various control voltages
  • Proficiency with electrical test equipment such as multimeters
  • Knowledge of electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams
  • Strong troubleshooting and programming skills for PLCs and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
  • Valid Electrical license or equivalent certification
  • Excellent safety awareness and commitment to safe work practices
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Excellent communication skills
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; college degree or technical certification is a plus
