Overview

The Immigration Law Fellowship at Vermont Law School offers a three-year opportunity for a lawyer or recent law graduate to join the Center for Justice Reform Clinic, focusing on expanding legal services for noncitizens in Vermont. This full-time position includes various responsibilities aimed at improving access to justice for low-income noncitizen Vermonters.

Key responsibilities

  • Integrate into educational and legal services programs at the Center for Justice Reform Clinic.
  • Deliver legal services to noncitizen clients.
  • Develop and implement projects to improve access to justice for low-income noncitizens.
  • Collaborate with legal and lay advocates to progress Fellowship projects.
  • Publicize Fellowship activities and participate in continuing legal education.

Required skills

  • 1-4 years of relevant legal experience
  • Admission to the Vermont Bar or willingness to sit for the Bar examination
  • Commitment to restorative justice and immigrants' rights
  • Writing, editing, organizational, and managerial skills
  • Public interest lawyering experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Legal services or civil rights work experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365
  • Multilingual language skills preferred
