Job Description

Overview

The ILSP Youth Specialist (Bilingual) at First Place for Youth is dedicated to empowering foster youth as they transition to adulthood. This role involves working closely with various providers to support youth in achieving their education and employment goals, overcoming challenges, and developing important life skills.

Key responsibilities

  • Support youth to identify and work toward employment and educational goals
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with high school students and community partners
  • Conduct individual case management meetings with participants
  • Assist youth in securing employment by accompanying them to job fairs and interviews
  • Counsel youth on career exploration and job retention
  • Create and facilitate workshops on vocational and educational topics
  • Develop and maintain relationships with educational and vocational institutions
  • Advocate for youth services and resources
  • Document progress towards Action Plan goals
  • Coordinate education and employment services with external providers

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
  • Fluency in Spanish (reading, writing, verbal)
  • Three years of experience working with at-risk youth, preferably former foster youth
  • Experience in career development and job placement preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of education and employment resources in the Bay Area
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and experience with database systems
  • Ability to multi-task and handle complex situations effectively
