Job Description

Overview

HVAC, Inc. is looking for an experienced HVAC/Mechanical Estimator to join their team in Deer Park, NY. The primary responsibility of this role is to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial and public work HVAC projects, requiring strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems and excellent analytical abilities.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed HVAC cost estimates for commercial and public work contracts
  • Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents
  • Perform quantity take-offs for HVAC equipment, ductwork, piping, controls, and materials
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing
  • Analyze labor, material, equipment, and overhead costs to ensure accurate proposals
  • Develop and submit competitive bids and proposals within required deadlines
  • Assist with value engineering and cost-saving recommendations
  • Support project managers during project handoff and execution
  • Maintain accurate estimating records and historical cost data
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client discussions as needed

Required skills

  • 3+ years of experience as an HVAC Estimator or in a similar estimating role
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, components, and installation methods
  • Experience estimating commercial HVAC projects
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver's license and ability to attend local site visits on Long Island
  • Familiarity with Long Island and NYC building codes
  • Knowledge of value engineering and cost analysis
  • Background working with mechanical contractors
