Job Description

Overview

At Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital, the HVAC/Boiler Tech is responsible for installing and maintaining mechanical equipment within the facility. This role requires a commitment to providing compassionate care and ensuring the operational efficiency of the hospital's systems.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks on equipment
  • Operate boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and pumps
  • Control air handler units
  • Monitor and program Energy Management Systems
  • Conduct tests and manage chemical levels in various systems
  • Maintain inventory of compressed gas cylinders and Liquid Oxygen
  • Install tanks as required
  • Assist in maintaining parts and supply inventory
  • Respond to emergency calls from all hospital departments
  • Complete other assigned preventative maintenance tasks in a timely manner

Required skills

  • Basic knowledge of equipment and mechanical ability
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience in refrigeration appliances, compressors, belts, and valves
  • Experience adjusting and calibrating temperature and humidity controls
