Job Description

Overview

The HVAC Technician at The GEO Group is responsible for performing maintenance and service repairs on HVAC systems and related equipment. This role involves installing new units, replacing parts, and ensuring compliance with safety guidelines while also overseeing inmate maintenance staff.

Key responsibilities

  • Overhaul and service air conditioning, heating, and ventilating equipment
  • Remove and install motors, thermostats, and humidistats
  • Repair and replace parts on condensers, compressors, and pumps
  • Adjust electrical parts and refrigeration valves
  • Test refrigeration equipment for leaks
  • Maintain records and prepare reports on service activities
  • Direct and provide technical assistance to inmate staff
  • Assist in maintaining security of assigned inmates
  • Perform other assigned duties

Required skills

  • 5 years of experience in HVAC or refrigeration systems
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • EPA approved Type I and Type II Refrigerant Recovery Certification preferred
  • Ability to communicate ideas and instructions clearly
