Overview

Loyola University Maryland is seeking an HVAC Mechanic to perform installation, servicing, and repair of various heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment. This entry-level position supports both residential and commercial HVAC systems and plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of campus facilities.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in installation, operation, service, and repair of HVAC equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks on HVAC systems
  • Regulate and monitor air handling equipment and compressors
  • Service and repair pneumatic, electric, or electronic control systems
  • Install and reinstate wiring and controls for HVAC systems
  • Use industry methods such as soldering, brazing, and gas welding for piping
  • Assist with snow and ice removal on campus
  • Clean work area upon completion of assignments

Required skills

  • Knowledge of installation, repair, and maintenance of HVAC systems
  • Experience with refrigerant types and environmental impact
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and National Electric Code
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
  • Hands-on skills in welding, brazing, soldering
  • Minimum of 1 year related experience in HVAC
  • Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed
