Overview

The HVAC Mechanic at Loyola University Maryland is responsible for installation, servicing, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment. This role involves performing preventive maintenance tasks and ensuring the efficient operation of HVAC systems across the university's facilities.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, operation, service, and repair of HVAC equipment including heat pumps and refrigeration systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment, including replacing filters and motors.
  • Service and repair pneumatic, electric, or electronic control systems.
  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment necessary for HVAC tasks.
  • Perform mechanical joining of piping using methods such as soldering and brazing.
  • Assist with snow and ice removal as required.

Required skills

  • Knowledge of HVAC installation, repair, and maintenance principles.
  • Experience with refrigerant handling and environmental impact regulations.
  • Understanding of OSHA regulations and the National Electric Code.
  • Familiarity with plumbing, steam-fitting, and electrical systems as they relate to HVAC.
