Overview

The HVAC Instructor for Mechanical Maintenance Engineering at The Refrigeration School, Inc. will play a crucial role in facilitating student learning and helping them achieve their educational and career objectives in the field of Mechanical Maintenance Engineering and related areas. The instructor will engage with students through hands-on laboratory instruction, theoretical coursework, and various learning environments while maintaining a safe and organized classroom.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver approved curriculum and course content for the Mechanical Maintenance Engineering program.
  • Facilitate both hands-on laboratory instruction and theory-based coursework.
  • Identify different student learning styles and adjust instructional methods accordingly.
  • Create and maintain a safe learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate student attendance, grade, and progress records.
  • Utilize Canvas or other Learning Management Systems (LMS) to support student learning and engagement.
  • Respond to student communications in a timely manner.
  • Identify and assist struggling students and communicate concerns to appropriate leadership.
  • Manage classroom, laboratory, and instructional equipment.
  • Maintain classroom and laboratory organization, cleanliness, and safety.
  • Communicate, support, and enforce school policies and procedures.
  • Ensure ethical and fair testing practices.
  • Evaluate curriculum relevance and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain current industry knowledge through continuing education and professional development.
  • Attend mandatory faculty meetings and semi-annual graduation ceremonies.
  • Assist with curriculum development and program improvement initiatives as needed.

Required skills

  • Associate degree required; Associate of Occupational Studies (AOS) in Mechanical Maintenance Engineering or related disc
  • Minimum of four years of directly related industry experience in HVAC/R systems, mechanical maintenance, industrial main
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to effectively teach both practical and theory-based coursework.
  • Experience teaching, training, mentoring, or coaching adult learners is preferred.
  • Experience with online instruction and Learning Management Systems (preferably Canvas).
  • Industry certifications related to HVAC/R, electrical systems, industrial maintenance, controls, facilities maintenance,
