Overview

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. As part of this team, the High Voltage Substation Commissioning Engineer will oversee the commissioning of critical infrastructure in AWS data centers. This role involves collaboration across various engineering disciplines to ensure compliance with safety, operational, and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate pre-commissioning and commissioning of high voltage systems related to data center infrastructure.
  • Manage and support vendor relationships and input for project scheduling and design.
  • Review multi-discipline commissioning documents for compliance with specifications and project standards.
  • Lead multiple concurrent projects while ensuring adherence to health and safety standards.
  • Conduct audits of commissioning activities to ensure compliance with environmental and safety requirements.
  • Respond to off-hour emergency calls and troubleshoot using handheld equipment.

Required skills

  • 5+ years of experience in engineering, installation, or commissioning of HV/MV Substation electrical systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • High technical competency in electrical systems design and review.
  • Vendor management and coordination experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, able to work under high stress.
