Overview

Domtar, a leading producer of pulp, paper, packaging, tissue, and wood products, is seeking a Human Resources Generalist in Port Alberni, British Columbia. This full-time and permanent position focuses on employee relations, recruitment, benefits administration, and labor relations, contributing to a supportive environment and opportunities for career growth.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure employee records are current, including leaves, accommodations, and payroll statuses
  • Assist with recruitment and maintain department records for accuracy
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external service providers for compensation and benefits
  • Provide employee benefits services and facilitate problem-solving for employee concerns
  • Liaise with other departments within the paper mill
  • Participate in the development and communication of HR policies and programs
  • Demonstrate a commitment to safety

Required skills

  • 3-5 years of related HR experience
  • Degree in Human Resources or a related field
  • Knowledge of benefits plans and HR administration
  • Experience in labor relations and unionized environments
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
