Job Description

Overview

The Human Resources Director for Grant County is responsible for leading and executing the human resources strategy, focusing on essential areas such as succession planning, talent management, and compliance with relevant laws. This role involves strategic leadership and oversight of human resources functions, ensuring adherence to personnel policies, and providing guidance to all County departments.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop, update, and implement Personnel Rules and Regulations
  • Oversee compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Provide leadership, direction, and coaching to the HR staff
  • Serve as the primary HR consultant to all County departments
  • Manage employee relations activities and investigate grievances
  • Administer Collective Bargaining Agreements and labor relations programs
  • Oversee Worker's Compensation and Family Medical Leave Act compliance
  • Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, and benefits administration
  • Maintain personnel records in accordance with retention guidelines
  • Implement training and development opportunities for County employees

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Six years of human resources experience
  • Four years of supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of human resource management principles and practices
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Skill in policy development and operational analysis
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate staff
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
