Job Description

Overview

CFS is seeking an HR Manager to join a rapidly growing waste management and recycling organization in Evanston, Illinois. This role requires a candidate with a strong background in human resources, preferably within the transportation sector, to manage various HR functions as the company continues to expand.

Key responsibilities

  • Build relationships across all levels of the organization
  • Maintain and improve employee relations and compliance with laws
  • Manage unemployment claims and represent the company in hearings
  • Oversee recruitment and talent acquisition processes
  • Conduct new employee orientation and onboarding
  • Provide guidance on performance management and compensation reviews
  • Administer employee benefits and address related inquiries
  • Handle weekly payroll processing and maintain Paylocity implementation
  • Maintain HR records and organizational charts
  • Prepare weekly HR reports for management

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Minimum of three years in an HR generalist position
  • Familiarity with employment laws and regulations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Discretion and ethical judgment in handling confidential information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Familiarity with applicant tracking and payroll systems (Paylocity)
  • Previous DOT experience is a plus
  • HR certifications (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) are preferred
