Job Description

Overview

The HR Generalist at Capital Waste Services will play a critical role in supporting HR operations with a focus on DOT compliance and driver qualification management. This position involves managing employee onboarding, training coordination, and benefits administration within a dynamic, safety-sensitive work environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain and audit Driver Qualification (DQ) files in compliance with FMCSA and DOT regulations
  • Track and manage driver credentials including CDL status and medical cards
  • Coordinate DOT drug and alcohol testing, including various pre-employment and random tests
  • Support compliance with Drug & Alcohol and Safety policies
  • Coordinate onboarding for DOT-regulated and non-DOT employees
  • Assist with group benefits administration including enrollments and changes
  • Utilize Paylocity for managing employee records and HR administration
  • Collaborate with Operations and Safety teams to resolve HR issues

Required skills

  • 2 years of HR experience with DOT compliance knowledge
  • Experience maintaining Driver Qualification (DQ) files
  • Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations
  • Experience with benefits administration
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems, especially Paylocity
  • Strong attention to detail and error identification
  • Ability to collaborate across departments in a fast-paced environment
