Job DescriptionJob DescriptionThe Hotel Accountant is responsible for day-to-day accounting operations across an assigned portfolio of hotel properties, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with company policies and USALI standards. This role serves as a key point of contact for property-level accounting questions and works closely with hotel operations teams to resolve financial discrepancies. You will report to the VP of Accounting & Financial Reporting. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Daily Accounting Operations:Performs daily uploads of data from hotel Property Management Systems (PMS) and ensures data ties out accurately to source reportsCompletes bank reconciliations for assigned properties on a timely basisTies out daily hotel revenues and statistics and daily reports from operating systemsCalculates, files, and researches sales taxMonth-End Close:Prepares and posts month-end close accounting entries and accrualsCreates and reconciles numerous account schedules to support the close processEnsures general ledger accounts are accurate and properly supportedProperty Support & Communication:Serves as a primary resource for hotel-level accounting questions across the majority of the portfolioCommunicates directly with hotel staff and management to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve accounting issuesAssists with credit card processing issues, discrepancies, and reconciliationsOther:Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by the VP of Accounting & Financial ReportingFollows Company policies and procedures KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESFamiliarity with hotel PMS systems and USALI accounting standards a plus.Experience with accounting systems.Strong Excel skills.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with property-level teams.High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines simultaneously. EDUCATIONBachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. EXPERIENCE1 - 3 years of accounting experience required, preferably in hotel or hospitality accounting. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESNone at this time. LICENSES OR CERTIFICATESNone required.
