Overview

The Hospital Laboratory Director at Memorial Satilla Health is responsible for overseeing laboratory operations to ensure high-quality and efficient patient care. The role involves direct management of staffing, compliance with regulatory standards, financial oversight, and fostering a culture of communication and staff development.

Key responsibilities

  • Directs laboratory operations and activities to meet organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures adequate staffing through effective hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Develops staff through coaching and regular feedback.
  • Sets and executes department strategies for service and quality standards.
  • Oversees financial operations, monitoring resource utilization and preparing reports.
  • Ensures compliance with standards from accrediting agencies.
  • Manages vendor relationships and supply contracts.
  • Implements communication plans to keep staff informed.
  • Delegates responsibilities according to regulatory guidelines.

Required skills

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry required.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • National Certification as a Medical Technologist required.
  • 3+ years of progressive laboratory management experience required.
  • Hospital clinical laboratory experience preferred.
