Overview

The Hospital Laboratory Director at HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital is responsible for overseeing the 24-hour operations of the clinical laboratory, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements. This role involves leadership in staff management, strategic planning, quality assurance, and fiscal responsibility to optimize laboratory services and enhance patient care.

Key responsibilities

  • Direct laboratory operations and manage departmental activities
  • Implement strategic and budget planning for laboratory services
  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance and regulatory compliance
  • Monitor staff performance and provide coaching and training
  • Develop and revise departmental policies and procedures
  • Manage fiscal responsibilities including resource utilization and budget preparation
  • Facilitate communication between laboratory and hospital personnel
  • Address quality improvement initiatives and customer feedback
  • Stay updated on legislative and regulatory changes impacting the laboratory
  • Investigate and procure necessary equipment and supplies

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree
  • State of Florida Supervisor's License in Blood Bank/Immunohematology, Chemistry, Hematology, Histology, Microbiology, an
  • 3+ years of supervisory or management experience in a clinical laboratory
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and quality assurance
  • Experience in budget planning and financial management
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate laboratory staff
