Overview

Fairview Park Hospital is seeking a Hospital Laboratory Director to oversee laboratory operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive departmental innovation. This role requires leadership in staffing, financial management, and quality assurance within the clinical laboratory setting.

Key responsibilities

  • Directs operations, programs, and activities to meet regulatory requirements
  • Ensures adequate staffing through hiring, training, and performance management
  • Develops and recognizes staff through coaching and regular feedback
  • Sets and executes departmental strategies for service and quality goals
  • Oversees financial operations by monitoring resource utilization and identifying variances
  • Assures compliance with standards from accrediting agencies
  • Manages key vendor relationships and supply contracts
  • Implements communication plans for department personnel
  • Delegates responsibilities and monitors staff activities for operational efficiency

Required skills

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Chemistry
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • National Certification as a Medical Technologist
  • 3+ years of experience in a supervisory/management role in a clinical laboratory setting
  • Hospital clinical laboratory experience preferred
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards (CAP, JCAHO, CLIA, FDA, CMS)
