Overview

The Hospital Laboratory Director at Memorial Satilla Health is responsible for overseeing laboratory operations to ensure high-quality and efficient patient care. This role focuses on meeting organizational and regulatory requirements while fostering team development and operational excellence within the laboratory environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Directs laboratory operations, programs, and activities to meet organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures adequate staffing through effective hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Develops staff through coaching and regular feedback.
  • Sets and executes department strategies for service, quality, and compliance.
  • Oversees financial operations by monitoring resource utilization and preparing financial reports.
  • Assures compliance with standards set by accrediting agencies.
  • Manages vendor relationships and supply contracts.
  • Implements a communication plan to keep department personnel informed.
  • Delegates responsibilities in accordance with regulatory guidelines.

Required skills

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Chemistry required
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • National Certification as a Medical Technologist required
  • 3+ years of progressive laboratory management experience in complex operations required
  • Hospital clinical laboratory experience preferred
