Overview

Good Samaritan Hospital is seeking a Hospital Laboratory Director in San Jose, California. This role is vital to ensure high-quality, efficient care while overseeing laboratory operations, staff management, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Direct operations to meet organizational and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure adequate staffing through hiring, training, and performance management
  • Develop and coach staff while serving as a role model
  • Set and execute department strategies for service and quality
  • Oversee financial operations by monitoring resource utilization
  • Ensure compliance with accrediting agency standards
  • Manage key vendor relationships and supply contracts
  • Develop communication plans to keep department personnel informed
  • Delegate responsibilities in accordance with regulatory guidelines

Required skills

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • National Certification as a Medical Technologist
  • State license where required
  • 3+ years of supervisory/management experience in a clinical laboratory setting
  • Hospital clinical laboratory experience preferred
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards
