Overview

The Hospital Laboratory Director at Memorial Health University Medical Center will oversee laboratory operations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and drive operational excellence. The role involves staffing, financial oversight, and fostering innovation in patient care services.

Key responsibilities

  • Direct operations, programs, and activities to meet organizational and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure adequate staffing through timely hiring, training, and performance management
  • Develop staff through coaching and regular feedback
  • Set and execute department strategies to meet service and quality goals
  • Oversee financial operations and monitor resource utilization
  • Ensure compliance with standards set by accrediting agencies
  • Manage key vendor relationships and supply contracts
  • Develop and implement communication plans for department personnel
  • Monitor and evaluate staff activities for operational efficiency

Required skills

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Chemistry
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • National Certification as a Medical Technologist
  • 3+ years of progressive laboratory management experience
  • Hospital clinical laboratory experience preferred
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance for CAP, JCAHO, CLIA, FDA, and CMS
