Job Description

Overview

The Hospice Chaplain at Sanford Health provides spiritual care and counseling for patients and their families, ensuring support in a safe and compassionate environment. This role involves collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to assess and address the spiritual needs of patients while promoting the organization's mission.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide spiritual care and counseling for patients and family members
  • Assess patients' spiritual needs upon admission and throughout care
  • Coordinate care plans with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Administer and coordinate sacraments
  • Educate healthcare groups on spiritual and religious care
  • Network with community clergy and faith leaders
  • Document care in compliance with regulations
  • Participate in staff meetings and events as required

Required skills

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Theology
  • Master of Divinity or Master of Theology degree preferred
  • Completion of Clinical Pastoral Education units
  • Active member of a Christian denomination
  • Previous pastoral experience
  • Training in hospice and grief work
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and maintain professional relationships
