Job Description

Overview

The Histology Technologist at L.E. Cox Medical Centers is responsible for the preparation and processing of histologic slides for diagnosis by pathologists. This role includes specialized staining and troubleshooting of equipment to maintain specimen integrity, along with applying critical thinking to assess processes and results.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with processes and preparation of histologic slides
  • Perform specialized staining and processing as requested by pathologists
  • Troubleshoot instrument or equipment malfunctions
  • Ensure specimen integrity
  • Use critical thinking to assess and correct questionable processes or results

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree (must be obtained within 90 days)
  • Completion of NAACLS accredited Histotechnician or Histotechnology program or one year of acceptable full-time experienc
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Customer relations skills
  • Planning and analytical skills
  • Strong concentration and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently
  • Good hand/eye coordination
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Certification as a Histotechnologist from a nationally accredited certifying agency within 90 days of hire
