Overview

The Histology Technician - Per Diem at Endeavor Health plays a crucial role in tissue specimen processing and preparation for histological examination. This position requires flexibility in scheduling, as hours may vary based on departmental needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Receive and prepare tissue specimens for histological examination
  • Conduct embedding, sectioning, staining, and mounting of slides
  • Ensure accuracy and reliability of histological slides through strict quality control measures
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microscopes and tissue processors
  • Examine slides for tissue abnormalities and cellular structures
  • Perform various staining techniques to enhance tissue visibility
  • Maintain detailed records of specimen processing and quality control data
  • Monitor and restock laboratory supplies and reagents
  • Follow safety protocols in handling hazardous materials

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field
  • 1 year of experience in a Histology Laboratory
  • Certified Histotechnician (HT) or Certified Histotechnologist (HTL) from ASCP BOC
  • Working knowledge of Benchmark Ultra and Special Stainer
  • Familiarity with Sakura Tissue Processing and Staining Systems
