Job Description

Overview

The High School Science Teacher at Urban Dove Team Charter Schools is tasked with educating over-aged, under-credited students through a student-paced, competency-based curriculum. The role emphasizes collaboration, adaptability, and a commitment to student success while addressing the unique challenges faced by these learners.

Key responsibilities

  • Co-teach five 55-minute classes
  • Collaborate in an Inclusive Co-Teaching (ICT) environment
  • Maintain an organized classroom environment that promotes learning and independence
  • Plan and implement student-centered instruction with diverse learning strategies
  • Implement Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) for individual student needs
  • Participate in IEP meetings and use data to track student progress
  • Communicate effectively with families and stakeholders
  • Manage student behavior with restorative practices
  • Attend a 3-week summer orientation and professional development series

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's Degree preferred
  • New York State Certification
  • Experience in a Transfer School preferred
  • Proficiency in Google Applications
  • Knowledge of SESIS
  • Ability to create multi-tiered classroom structures and behavior plans
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Team-oriented with a strong work ethic
  • Commitment to restorative practices and youth development
