Overview

Urban Dove Team Charter Schools is seeking a dynamic High School Science Teacher in Brooklyn, New York, who is committed to utilizing data-driven approaches within a competency-based curriculum to support students' academic success. This role involves co-teaching and collaborating in an inclusive environment designed for over-aged and under-credited youth, integrating sports-based youth development into a robust academic framework.

Key responsibilities

  • Co-teach five 55-minute classes
  • Collaborate in an Inclusive Co-Teaching (ICT) environment
  • Maintain an organized classroom environment that promotes student independence
  • Plan and implement student-centered instruction that caters to diverse learning styles
  • Implement Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) to address individual student's needs
  • Track and discuss student progress using various data sources
  • Manage student behavior with restorative practices and school-wide PBIS
  • Communicate with families and stakeholders to support student success
  • Attend a 3-week summer orientation and professional development series

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's Degree preferred
  • New York State Certification
  • Experience in a Transfer School preferred
  • Proficient in Google Applications
  • Knowledgeable in the use of SESIS
  • Ability to create multi-tiered classroom structures and behavior plans
  • Demonstrated multi-tasking skills
  • Strong communication skills and work ethic
  • Commitment to restorative practices and youth development approaches
