Job Description

Overview

The High School Math Teacher at Urban Dove Team Charter School IV is responsible for using data-driven methods in a student-centered and competency-based curriculum to enhance the academic success of students, particularly those facing unique challenges. The school combines academics with sports-based development, striving to prepare students for higher education and essential life skills.

Key responsibilities

  • Co-teach five 55-minute classes
  • Collaborate in an Inclusive Co-Teaching (ICT) environment
  • Maintain an organized classroom that promotes student thinking and independence
  • Plan and implement student-centered instruction that adapts to different learning styles
  • Implement Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) tailored to individual student's needs
  • Track student progress using various data sources and set growth goals
  • Manage student behavior through restorative practices and PBIS
  • Communicate with families and stakeholders to support student success
  • Attend a 3-week summer orientation and professional development series
  • Participate in IEP meetings and broader school roles like mentoring

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
  • New York State Certification
  • Experience in a Transfer School preferred
  • Proficiency in Google Applications
  • Knowledge of SESIS preferred
  • Ability to address multiple disabilities in the classroom
  • Strong multitasking abilities
  • Commitment to teamwork, leadership, and communication values
  • Experience in restorative practices and youth development approaches
  • Excellent communication skills and a passion for serving at-risk youth
