Job Description

Overview

Match Education is seeking a full-time High School Counselor to work at their Brighton campus in Boston, Massachusetts. This role involves collaborating with teachers and school leadership to meet student needs, providing direct counseling, and supporting a diverse student body, particularly multilingual learners and those eligible for special education services.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling using evidence-based modalities
  • Conduct safety and risk assessments and offer crisis support
  • Manage cases and coordinate care for students and families
  • Participate in IEP meetings and provide updates on student progress
  • Develop IEP goals and collect and analyze related data
  • Collaborate with teams to determine necessary levels of care
  • Partner with teachers on mental health strategies in the classroom
  • Implement preventive mental health and wellness programming
  • Maintain a trauma-sensitive and culturally responsive approach
  • Engage in coaching and professional development initiatives
  • Contribute positively to the school community

Required skills

  • Two or more years of school-based social work experience
  • Masters degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling
  • LCSW/LICSW or LMHC eligibility within one year
  • Fluent in Spanish (strongly preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Extensive clinical assessment and case management experience
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams
  • Understanding of how race, gender, and culture influence student experiences
  • Demonstrated cultural competence and empathy
  • Knowledge of Boston-area mental health and social service resources
  • Belief in the potential of all students to succeed
