Overview

Stratford School in San Jose, California, is seeking a High School Business Teacher and DECA Advisor to lead its dynamic business program. This role involves teaching various business electives and guiding the DECA chapter, focusing on real-world applications and student engagement within a supportive educational environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Teach rigorous and engaging business courses, including Business & Entrepreneurship and AP Business and Personal Finance
  • Design project-based curriculum aligned with real-world business applications
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learners
  • Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and intellectual curiosity
  • Communicate proactively with students and families
  • Collaborate with faculty and contribute to the broader school community
  • Integrate technology and emerging tools to enhance instruction and learning
  • Coach students for regional, state, and international DECA competitions
  • Organize meetings, events, and competition travel for DECA
  • Support student leadership development and career readiness

Required skills

  • Strong background in business, finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, or a related field
  • Three to five years of teaching experience at the high school level
  • Ability to obtain California CTE Credential in Business and Finance
  • Relevant professional experience in business, finance, marketing, consulting, operations, or entrepreneurship
  • Strong content knowledge in business-related fields
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Collaborative, flexible, and growth-oriented mindset
