Overview

Eastside Catholic School is looking for a passionate and driven High School Assistant Cross Country Coach to support the Head Coach in guiding the team. This role focuses on mentoring student-athletes, enhancing their skills, and promoting their development both in sports and academics during the fall season, with potential off-season opportunities.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices, meets, and team activities
  • Support the implementation of the program's philosophy, goals, and expectations
  • Teach fundamental skills, techniques, and strategies for cross country
  • Promote teamwork, discipline, respect, and positive sportsmanship
  • Monitor the academic progress and personal growth of student-athletes
  • Ensure the safety of all participants by enforcing proper training and equipment use
  • Assist with meet-day operations, travel logistics, and communication with athletes and parents
  • Model behavior that exemplifies the school's Core Covenants
  • Maintain compliance with WIAA and school athletic policies
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and WIAA rules clinics

Required skills

  • Meets WIAA coaching standards and completes required certifications/training
  • Knowledge of sport rules, safety practices, and coaching fundamentals
  • Positive, responsible, and team-oriented coaching style
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to motivate, teach, and support student-athletes
  • Experience working with assistant coaches and staff
  • Previous coaching or playing experience required; head coach or college-level experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree preferred

What the company offers

  • Stipend: $2,500-$4,000 paid in three installments over the season
